As a tourist destination, Tweed Heads has everything. It’s near enough to the Gold Coast to benefit from good connections and facilities, but far enough away to be able to keep its unspoilt beaches and lush inland national parks to itself.
Tweed Heads sits at the mouth of the Tweed River, nestled right up against Coolangatta and the Queensland border. These two towns are completely interdependent and their nickname of the ‘Twin Towns’ recognises this fact.
Top tip: in the summer, New South Wales is an hour ahead of Queensland, so make sure you’re clear on whether any bookings you make are in New South Wales time or Queensland time.
