In the heart of the Dawson Valley, 600km from Brisbane, Moura sits on the banks of the Dawson River. A lively town of hard-working, passionate people who make this town thrive. Queensland thrives off its farmers and miners, and theirfamilies, and Moura is at itscentre – it's Queensland's heart and soul.
Coal mining has been Moura's primary industry for close to 60-years. Surrounding this vibrant rural town are huge open cut pits. Although there are no mine tours, these massive pits can be seen from the highway or from a viewing platform on Gibihi Road.
Two hours east of Moura, is the coastal township of Gladstone. A city full of small town charm, surrounded by spectacular coastline and reef just waiting to be discovered, it’s worth packing the car up for a roadtrip.
