Cricket World Cup 2015 in Sydney byHertz AU

Cricket World Cup 2015 – Cheer your Team with Hertz in Sydney banner

The countdown is on to the Cricket World Cup 2015. If you’re planning a visit to cheer on your favourite team, read on for everything you need to know about the Cricket World Cup in Sydney. Australia is co-hosting the Cricket World Cup with traditional rival New Zealand this summer. Sydney has the honour of hosting a whopping five matches this Cricket World Cup, at the historic Sydney Cricket Ground.

-  On 27 February the West Indies take on South Africa

-  On 8 March Australia plays Sri Lanka

-  On 13 March England takes on Afghanistan

-  On 18 March the first quarter final will be held here

-  On 26 March the second semi final is scheduled

If Australia qualifies for the semi finals, they will play in this match (unless they are to play New Zealand,in which case whichever team finishes higher in the pool round gets home ground advantage).

More than 150 years old, Sydney’s cricket ground is the home ground of the state cricket team, the New South Wales Blues and the Big Bash franchise, the Sydney Sixers. Test cricket, One Day International cricket, and Twenty20 cricket are all played here, as well as AFL, rugby league and rugby union.

If you’re wondering where to stay in Sydney for the Cricket World Cup with your Sydney car hire, the grounds are located about 20 minutes from the city centre, in Moore Park. The nearby neighbourhood of Paddington is home to a few select hotels including the Royal and Olympic hotels. In Darlinghurst, the Crown and Central Railway hotels are just a couple among many more options. But you’ll have the most choice in accommodation in Sydney’s central city itself. It’s easiest to take the M1 motorway (which has tolls) to Moore Park Rd, then turn right onto Driver Ave to reach the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Sports lovers can check out Bat and Ball pub on Cleveland St, a stone’s throw from the cricket ground, or the Bavarian Beer Cafe is practically next door to the ground. The Entertainment Quarter on Lang Rd has some dining options. But don’t miss the chance to try some of the top eateries in the central city like Est, Tee Bridge Room or Medusa Greek Taverna.
