What trip to Darwin would be complete without coming up close and personal with one of Darwin’s most dangerous creatures?
Crocodylus Park, just five minutes drive in a hire car from the Hertz Darwin Airport car hire location or 15 minutes from the centre of Darwin, is the perfect place to see some crocodiles on your trip to Darwin. A research park and zoo, Crocodylus Park is home to over ten thousand crocodiles of varying species. You’ll see everything from tiny hatchlings to adults that are 16-feet long.
Crocodylus Park is also home to many other animals, so you’ll also get to see a wide range of animals including lions, tigers, monkeys, water buffalo, hawksbill turtles, dingoes, kangaroos and wallabies, snakes and birds – to name a few.
There’s a gift shop which sells souvenirs and luxury leather goods, so don’t forget to bring your wallet.
Tours operate every single day, except Christmas Day. Tours start at the lagoon which is full of saltwater crocodiles. Here you can watch as the crocodiles jump from the water to eat meat, which is suspended over the water on a rope. As the tour continues you’ll have the chance to feed some crocodiles yourself (if you’re game), see baby crocodiles and even have a photograph with one. The tour guides are very knowledgeable and will provide you with plenty of fun facts along the way.
After the tour ends, you’ll have the opportunity to walk through the park at your leisure and see the other animals including monkeys and lions as well as animals that are native to Australia. You can also visit the Crocodylus Museum and learn all there is to know about crocodiles and crocodile farming.
Tours operate at 10am, 12 midday, 2pm and 3:30pm. Feeding times vary.
The park is open from 9am to 5pm every day except Christmas Day. Guided tours take place at 10am, 12noon, 2pm and 3.30pm daily.
Entry to Crocodylus Park is $40 for adults, $30 for seniors and $20.00 for children.Children under 3 years old get in FREE. Family passes are also available.
