Mark Sunday January 19 2015 in your diary now. The food bowl of Adelaide will put its very best foot forward, with dozens of tempting options for every taste and style.

At the Crush Festival, discover some of South Australia’s best wines matched with fashion, music and art. Over 30 wineries in this land of plenty open up their cellar doors, featuring local gourmet produce paired with entertainment, from jazz to reggae to Latin beats.

Check out places like Summertown and Glen Ewin Estate. Collect the freshest fruit along theCherry trail, from apples to berries. Meet wine makers, chill out to live tunes, watch cooking demonstrations and fashion parades. Sample African, Asian and Mediterranean flavours. Relax with a picnic in a paddock at the Summer Garden Party in Hahndorf or the Parisian Picnic in Balhannah. Go all out and party in style at the Madhatter’s Ball in Nairne, a costumed event with best dressed prizes, matched with funky music, food from an award winning chef and single vineyard wines. And a true spectacle will take place at Longview – the 4th Annual Krush Klinic, an event like no other where four street artists from all over Australia create huge murals, live, one of which will become a label for Longview’s 2012 The Piece Shiraz. Additional ticketed events will be held at other surrounding venues, such as movie screenings at vineyards, Moulin Rouge inspired luncheons, artisan markets.

The annual Crush Festival is held in the Adelaide Hills – against the stunning backdrop ofMount Lofty – over the Australia Day long weekend in January. Escape the city with your Adelaide airport car hire; it’s just 30 minutes drive away. Should you not have a designated driver, there are shuttle services available but bookings are essential. If you’re visiting the area for the Crush festival, we recommend staying at Mt Lofty House. Accommodation here comprises of 33 luxury rooms full of ambience in different styles, most with balconies enjoying views over the Piccadilly Valley. There are also 3 self contained cottages for increased privacy. At Mt Lofty House, there are even two vineyards onsite – you may well want to extend your stay to make the most of what’s on offer.
