No trip to the Gold Coast is complete without a trip to at least one of the Gold Coast’s famous theme parks. The Gold Coast is home to not one, not two, not three but four giant theme parks all packed with fun. Each of the theme parks is unique, offering something different for everyone. One of these is Dreamworld, filled to the brim with fun and adrenalin. It has a sister park right nearby called WhiteWater World which has just as much adrenalin but will leave you soaked to the bone!
Dreamworld is a world of fun and adrenaline for both kids and adults alike. Whether you are travelling as a family or in a group of friends, Dreamworld is a place you’ll want to spend the entire day. Dreamworld takes up more than 30 hectares and is filled with rides, shows and attractions. You’ll find the Big 6 Thrill Rides – six different rides bound to get the adrenalin pumping through your veins. Amongst this Big 6, is the Tower of Terror, the Giant Drop (fancy freefalling from 38 storeys?) and the Claw.
Test your skills and experience thrills at the same time with attractions such as Alien vs Predator vs You – a laser skirmish battle which is based on the Alien vs Predator movie. There’s also a virtual V8 Supercar experience and FlowRider where you can test out your surfing skills. Got some smaller kids to entertain? Head straight to Wiggle World!
If you need a break from the adrenalin, you’ll be pleased to know that Dreamworld also houses the Australian Wildlife Experience where you can meet some koalas and other Australian animals. Or head to Tiger Island where you can get up close and personal with some Bengal and Sumatran tigers. Watch tiger presentations, feed the tigers, take photos with the tigers or just watch them from a safe distance. If you’re worried about missing out on the best rides, take advantage of Dreamworld’s Q4U device. It does cost extra but it means you can reserve a spot in the line while you’re doing something else.
Right nearby Dreamworld is their sister park WhiteWater World. WhiteWater World is a water only theme park filled with water slides and rides designed to make a splash. WhiteWorld World isn’t short on adrenalin containing thrills like the eight-lane racer The Bro, a wave pool called the Cave of Waves, The Wedgie – a drop and loop bodyslide and The Rip – a four person tube ride. There’s also some kid friendly areas like Wiggle Bay and the Pipeline Plunge.
Entry is separate to WhiteWater World from Dreamworld but you can buy a handy pass which lets you in to both. Book online to save queuing and for cheaper tickets. Both parks are open daily from 10am (Dreamworld closes at 5pm and WhiteWater World at 4pm) and are easy to access in your Hertz hire car. From Gold Coast airport car hire you’re looking at a 35 minute drive. Parking is abundant in their car parks (but be prepared for crowding if you’re leaving right on closing time) so you won’t have any trouble finding a place to leave your rental car for the day.
