Southern Queensland’s beaches, cities and holiday towns are popular all year round. With your Brisbane Airport car rental from Hertz, it’s easy to embark on a relaxed family road trip up the coastline.

Brisbane to Sunshine Coast – 90 km

From Brisbane city, take the Bruce Highway north to the sun kissed Sunshine Coast. It’s worth making time to detour over to Bribie Island, just off the coast. It is connected to the eastern mainland by a bridge. Crossing the bridge grants you stunning views of Pumicestone Passage which is home to an array of wildlife. Dolphins, dugong and turtles swim through this passage, and marine birds visit the island in spades. The island is perfect for obating and fishing, and on land there’s golfing, shopping and dining.

Continuing on north through Queensland, you may also like to stop off at one of the cute mountain villages inland like Maleny or Montville. Bask in the views over the Glasshouse Mountains and visit the galleries and art studios. If you can’t get enough of the fresh mountain air, stay overnight in a local lodge.

It’s then a breeze of a drive on the last leg through to the Sunshine Coast. You’ll be spoiled for choice here. Rent a kayak, take a stand up paddle boarding lesson, trek some of the Sunshine Coast Great Walk.

Sunshine Coast to Noosa – 40 km

Further along the Sunshine Coast is the coastal resort town of Noosa. On the way you can stop at the town of Eumundi. On Wednesday and Saturday mornings the Eumundi Marketsare on, with handmade crafts and cosmetics through to art and edibles.

Meanwhile at Yandina, you will find the world’s largest ginger factory, with everything from ice cream to chocolate and tea.

Finally you will reach Noosa, with all its restaurants, boutiques and beaches. The Noosa Farmers markets are renowned for fresh produce and cheeses. Nearby Noosa National Park is a playground for outdoors lovers. Even further north, past Great Sandy National Park, the wonder of Rainbow Beach and its colourful sands are sure to enthrall.
