The Melbourne Cabaret Festival is back for another exciting year. If you’re heading to Melbourne between 6 June and 7 July and you’re a big fan of cabaret or live performance, this festival is something you won’t want to miss. The festival takes place over twelve nights and is bound to be the biggest cabaret festival Melbourne has ever seen. A variety of shows, totalling seventy-eight performances, will take place at seven different locations across Melbourne including at the Palais Theatre, the Butterfly Club and Bohemia.
The festival will begin on 6 June at the Palais Theatre with an opening gala night. The gala night will feature Mary Wilson, a founding member of the Supremes as well as international cabaret stars David Pomeranz and Joey Arias and composer Adam Guettel. Tickets for the gala night range from $59.50 to $79.50 and can be purchased online here. From here a variety of performances will take place spanning the various cabaret genres such as comedy, vaudeville, New York Style and more.
Show highlights include Oprahfication starring Rachel Dunham, Sitting with the Fat Man – the songs of Randy Newman starring Sally Bourne and Mark Jones. If you’re a fan of Edith Piaf, you’ll want to catch Michaela Burger’s performance or if Adele is more your cup of tea, catch Naomi Price in her performance Rumour Has It: Sixty Minutes Inside Adele.
The Melbourne Cabaret Festival will not only give you the opportunity to watch some talented cabaret performers but to experience Melbourne’s nightlife scene. You’ll get to enjoy a drink or two and a meal while watching the show at some of Melbourne’s greatest bars.
Last year’s festival was a sell-out, so it’s recommended that you buy tickets well in advance. For ticket information including pricing, dates and venues click here.
