If you’re visiting the Gold Coast, it’s worth hopping in the Gold Cost airport hire car your hired at Hertz and driving to at least one of the four major theme parks located on Queenland’s Gold Coast. One of these theme parks is Sea World, home to majestic sea animals, exciting rides and fun entertainment. There’s plenty to keep you and your family or friends entertained for hours and plenty of experiences you’re likely to remember for a long time to come. You can come up close and personal with sharks, meet Sea World’s resident polar bear couple, Liya and Nelson, and swim with dolphins.
Sea World has rides for kids and adults alike. If you’re travelling with little ones they’ll love Sesame Street Beach as well as the interactive adventure zone Castaway Bay.
If you’re an adrenalin junkie or if you’re looking for some thrills, you’ll love exciting rides like the Sea Viper rollercoaster, the Storm Coaster or Jet Rescue. Some tamer rides that are still great fun include the Viking Flume Revenge and the Sea World monorail.
Sea World is home to an impressive array of sea animals. You’ll see everything from sharks to fairy penguins.
The sharks are housed in Shark Bay, a manmade lagoon filled with sharks as well as fish and string rays. You can view the sharks from underneath the water, watching the sharks swim right up to the glass, or you can view them from above in the viewing platforms. You can also see some of Sea World’s cutest residents at Polar Bear Shores, home of adult polar bear and cubs alike.
There are seals in Seal Harbour, penguins in Penguin Point and Penguin Encounter, and sea birds, such as pelicans, in Seabird Rehab.
There’s also a dolphin lagoon, Dolphin Cove, where you can watching dolphins swimming and playing in the water and you can also watch dolphins at their finest in Imagine, a live dolphin show.
Step back in time and explore Dinosaur Island to find out about the lives and natural habitats of these prehistoric animals.
Sea World certainly has enough to keep you entertained for hours on end. In addition to the rides and animals, Sea World offers a range of shows to appeal to people of all ages. There’s the Jet Stunt Extreme show, 3D movies and the world’s only Spongebob Paradepants Parade. Little ones will love the fun live show Dora’s Best Friends Adventure.
Sea World is open seven days a week every day of the year except Christmas Day. Gates open at 9.30am and close at 5.30pm.
Tickets can be bought in advance at authorised sellers on the Gold Coast, online or at the gates when you arrive.
Sea World is easily reached in the rental car you picked up from Hertz at Gold Coast airport. It’s an easy drive and plenty of car parking is available so you’ll have no problems finding a place to leave your hire car.
Or, if you want to leave your Hertz Gold Coast Airport hire car behind, there are buses that operate from most hotels as well as from main streets.
