Australia is known for several things including its delicious tropical fruit. Tropical Fruit World, found just over the NSW border, celebrates the tropical fruit of this region of Australia. The setting is reason enough alone to drive your Gold Coast Airport car hire back over the border into the NSW. Tropical Fruit World is set right beside one of one of the world’s largest extinct volcanos and has spectacular views of Tweed Valley and the McPherson Ranges.
Tropical Fruit World is Australia’s largest plantation orchard and contains over 500 varieties of tropical fruits from Australia and around the world. You’ll come across well-known fruits such as bananas, pineapples and avocados as well as some lesser known fruits. Ever heard of lemon meringue fruit? How about ice-cream bean, champagne fruit or chocolate pudding fruit? Tropical Fruit World will introduce you to these fruits and many more including the fruit from chewing gum trees and red dragon fruit.
In addition to viewing the wonders of Australian tropical fruit, there are also a number of activities and things to do. For example, hop on board the Plantation Safari for a guided tour of the plantation and discover everything that Tropical Fruit World has to offer. Learn how to crack open a macadamia nut and discover how avocados grow. There are also the Miracle Fruit Shows which take place regularly throughout the day which offer an opportunity to learn more about the fruit as well as to taste-test the fruit. You’ll also get to try Tropical Fruit World’s very own chutneys, jams, preserves and salad dressings.
Kids will love Treasure Island, an island lined with trees with plenty of fun things play with including cubby houses, a flying fox ride, ball games and even a mini-golf course. Take the whole family on a Jungle River Cruise, a cruise along the water in a river boat. Here you can keep a lookout for animals including birds, waterdragons, turtles and snakes. You can also feed the birds along the way.
Another fantastic option for seeing the Island is the Mini Train Ride. If you’ve got time, there are stunning rainforest walks in the nearby rainforest. There are a variety of walking tracks to choose from including Koala Way, Possum Way, Red Gum Lane and the Hidden Lake Circuit.
Tropical Fruit World, although located in New South Wales, is only a short ten minute drive from the Gold Coast airport. Take the hire car you picked up from Hertz at the Gold Coast airport and find yourself at Tropical Fruit World in no time at all.
Tropical Fruit World is open every day from 10am until 4.30pm, except Christmas Day.
