What’s on at the Gold Coast in October banner

When you think of the Gold Coast you most likely think of the iconic strip of Surfer’s Paradise and the colourful buzz of the Gold Coast’s many theme parks. Beyond that, though, this region hosts many exciting events throughout the year. And getting around the Gold Coast once you arrive is easy – Hertz has your Gold Coast car hire covered.

Beach Bash

4-5 Oct 2014 - Kirra Beach

Beach Bash is a whole lot of fun for the whole family – Australia’s sandiest obstacle challenge designed to make fitness fun. Participants of all levels of fitness will find something for them. The Adventure Course is four kilometres while the gruelling Challenge Course dials up the stakes over six kilometres with as many as 17 obstacles to overcome.

Being an alcohol-free event, it’s also great for all ages. There’s a one kilometre Junior Beach Bash for youngsters. You don’t need to be a good swimmer as you won’t be going into the ocean. That doesn’t mean you won’t get wet though – prepare to get splashed along the way and work up a sweat. Once you cross the finish line you’ll have plenty of activities and entertainment to look forward to as a reward.

Gold Coast Sevens

The Sevens promise 45 exhilarating matches in just two days – with a try scored every few minutes. The tournament is further amped up with non-stop entertainment – expect to see dance-offs and karaoke in the mix.

Now in its second decade, the IRB Sevens World Series travels around the globe, with countries as diverse as the United Arab Emirates, Japan, South Africa, New Zealand, United States, Hong Kong, England, Scotland and Australia all taking turns to host the different phases. in 2011 the Australian leg moved from Adelaide to the Gold Coast and never looked back.

V8 Supercars

The Castrol V8 Supercars Gold Coast 600 promises to be an enormous celebration of all things fast and loud. It’s three days of showstopping action – both on and off the track – with no shortage of other exciting events on the calendar in the days leading up to the main weekend. Kids get free entry with a paying adult.

Highlights of the programme include pyrotechnics, monster machines and stunt demons on the opening night’s Fire and Fuel Fest, and the GC Paint Pit which will see walls and lanes transformed into pieces of modern visual art. In the leadup to the main races, the Fast and Ludicrous wheelie bin race and the indoor Slideways Karting Superstars events promise to be entertaining. For a change of pace, check out the Beach Volleyball Challenge or the Runners Hot Lap fun run.

The Friday Night drags will be roaring with horsepower and the industry’s best drivers. And of course the Saturday Race of the Stars karting event and Sunday Superfest Drivers Parade shouldn’t be missed. Over at the Broadwater Parklands on Saturday there’s the Jim Beam 600 Sounds concert.
