Where to shop in Brisbane, Australia byHertz AU

Where to shop in Brisbane, Australia banner

Brisbane is truly coming into its own. It’s now a shopping destination in its own right. Hertz offers Brisbane Airport car rental, so it’s easy to get around the various precincts when you come to town.

On weekends, markets spring up all over the place. The lively South Bank Parklands Lifestyle market goes all weekend. There’s also the vintage Saturday Brunswick Street Market in Fortitude Valley and the Sunday Riverside Markets. And if your visit happens to coincide with the or the monthly offbeat Winn Laneway markets, more’s your luck.

Queen St

The main plaza is absolutely bursting with retail offerings – there’s a massive Myer department store and over 700 other shops – and the Wintergarden has a more boutique vibe.

All tastes are catered to here. There’s Australian womenswear like Bassike and Ellery , as well as prestigious glossy global labels aplenty (some down Edward St off the mall). Luxury lovers can get their fix of Hermes or Louis Vuitton here with no problem.

Elizabeth Arcade

Nearby on Elizabeth St you’ll come across a mecca of hot young fashion designers. Boutiques carry a dazzling array of fashion-forward garments from multiple labels and streetwear – everything from Carhartt to Comme Des Garcons or Chronicles of Never.

The inner city neighbourhood of Paddington is worth a look. Vintage lovers in particular should pay attention. Here lies the Paddington Antique Centre, where dozens of dealers trade collectibles. Other edgy character shops include Retro Metro, Hobohemia, and Adornments.

Fortitude Valley

The Fortitude Valley precinct has blossomed into a funky haven for the young and hip. Head here if you’re into stylish brands like Ksubi or sass & bide – Ann St and James St in particular. Angus Black and Blonde Venus are two standout boutiques to visit. Mix things up with stops at the various cafes and creative spaces dotted throughout.

Down Winn Laneway, there are even more niche boutiques if you’re looking to pick up some genuinely unique and quirky threads. But beyond fashion, this street is also big on art, music, and books – Atavist Books has a great selection of pre-loved titles in excellent condition.
