Wednesday 18th November 2020 | South Australia Circuit Breaker Restrictions - Hertz Open for Business

Hertz locations remain open under South Australia's Circuit Breaker restrictions, to provide safe and reliable transport options for those who require a vehicle to undertake a permitted service or use a vehicle for a permitted industry. Upon collecting a rental vehicle, customers may be required to complete a declaration stating that they are renting a vehicle to undertake a permitted service or for a permitted industry.

Please refer to the South Australia State Government’s Covid-19 Response website to understand what is and is not permitted. Customers should not be travelling for leisure purposes from 12:01 am Thursday, 19 November 2020 and for the following 6 days.

If you must travel, Hertz is committed to keeping its staff and customers safe. All Hertz locations are carrying out safety and preventative measures, which include:

· Staff and customers must wear facemasks at all time

· Hand sanitizer is available at counters for complimentary use

· Where possible, we're reducing customer transaction time and encourage contactless collection and return at applicable locations

· Enhanced cleaning protocols are in place across the board

Dear Valued Customer,

The safety of our staff and customers is a priority to Hertz. Like everyone, we're adapting to the current COVID-19 situation and observing all national and international measures to minimise the spread of the virus.

We wanted to take this time to reassure you that the utmost attention is being paid to cleaning. As well as our usual high standards of cleaning, all of our vehicles are now going through an enhanced process, which involves the sanitising of every vehicle between each rental using detergent cleaning products.

In addition to our standard cleaning service, we are disinfecting the following hard surfaces:

  • Door handles (inside and out)
  • Steering wheel
  • Key area
  • Handbrake
  • Seat belt fittings/clips
  • Entire console area

Any hard surface areas previously cleaned will now be cleaned with disinfectant.

Across all Hertz locations, we are continually sanitising our rental counters and customer touchpoints. We are also doing this in our customer return areas.

As we carry out these additional cleaning measures, we apologise for any inconvenience or delays you may experience.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update for Hertz Customers

Hertz is committed to providing our customers with the highest level of service and wish to assure you that we are monitoring and responding to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation in Australia and New Zealand, and around the world.

Given the fast-evolving COVID-19 situation in Australia and New Zealand, we want to update you on the additional steps we are taking to keep our vehicles clean so you can be confident about your decision to choose Hertz.

Hertz has access to the most up-to-date and authoritative information on responding to COVID-19 and minimising the risk of infection to our employees and customers.

We are committed to high standards of safety and cleanliness. In addition to practicing preventative measures to reduce the spread of germs within our facilities, all our vehicles go through a rigorous, multi-step cleaning process for each rental. We are remaining vigilant in upholding these practices and are taking additional precautions as recommended by the United States Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, the World Health Organisation and the Australian Government to minimise the risk to our customers and employees.

We have detailed procedures in place to protect and care for our staff and to identify, isolate and clean any vehicle suspected of exposure to Covid-19.

These procedures apply worldwide, and you can be confident in the cleanliness and safety of a Hertz vehicle wherever you rent it.

Similarly, we ask our customers to please heed and follow official advice on personal hygiene, measures to protect yourself, and what to do if you are concerned about exposure to the virus. Existing Bookings

During this time, we recognize flexibility is more important than ever. At Hertz, you can get the right car to fit your needs without having to pay in advance. As always, Hertz allows you to pay for your rental at the time of pick-up with no cancellation fees. Should your plans change, adjusting existing reservations is easy on Hertz.com or email ausres@hertz.com

Prepaid bookings

Although a refund is not available, important updates have been made regarding pre-paid Hertz bookings, due to the current situation. Customers with pre-paid rentals booked prior to March 13th can cancel their reservation for no fee and transfer their balance for use toward a future booking to be used within 24 months. Customers who have made a reservation that is affected by Government travel restrictions can also cancel the reservation at any time or rebook later, free of charge.
