Fuel Purchase Option

Ever thought how much easier it would be if you could just hand back your hire car with an empty tank, without incurring any extra fuel charges at the counter?

So did we. Which is why we came up with the Hertz Flexible Fuel Purchase Option.

Here's how it works

1. Buy a full tank at the start (FPO)

When you pick up your hire car, choose to include a full tank of fuel in advance. If you return the car and the tank isn’t full, you won’t face a refuelling charge to top it back up. Away you go with nothing more to pay. No last-minute trip to the petrol station. No fuel top-up charges.

2. Buy a half tank at the start

It may be more convinient to pay for a half tank of fuel at the start of the rental and save time on refuelling by returning the vehicle with only half a tank of fuel. Like the full tank option if you rent the car and the tank is half full you won't be charged a refuelling charge to top it back up.

Please note that we do not provide a refund for unused fuel.

FAQs

What is Fuel Purchase Option and how does it work?
For convenience, you may purchase a full tank, or half tank of fuel from Hertz at the time of rental, at a price that is competitive with local fuel stations. This method eliminates the need for you to refill the tank before returning. Please, be aware that we are unable to give a refund for unused fuel. Please check availability of FPO at time of pickup of the car.

Does the car come with a full tank of fuel?
Hertz rates do not include fuel.

Hertz vehicles are always provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with a full tank of fuel, or a local refuelling charge will apply.
