Stroll Five Dock Park
There are several lovely parks in Five Dock, but for the variety of activities on offer it’s hard to go past Five Dock Park itself. Rolling green lawns and an abundance of native fauna and flora make the grounds beautiful and relaxing for a walk, with well placed benches strategically positioned along the walking trails. For those seeking a bit more adrenaline, there’s a great skate park here too, so the kids can crack out the scooters and boards – or maybe you’ve got a few tricks up your sleeve to show them too. There are picnic tables and plenty of greenery to explore here.
Play for all
Timbrell Park is home to Australia’s oldest “all access” playground, Livvi’s Place, which is a range of equipment that kids of any ability can thoroughly enjoy. Things like an extra wide slide that allows a parent to ride with and support their kid, a wheelchair friendly sandpit, and a long flying fox along with swings and other amenities designed to accommodate everyone makes this a place full of laughter and joy. There’s a lovely café here too – Livvi’s Café has a range of sweet and savoury treats on offer that are sure to really hit the spot.
Eat your way along the Old North Road
Five Docks is known as “Little Italy” by Sydney gourmets, and you can wind your way down Old North Road sampling the best the suburb has to offer. Along with the restaurants, cafes and bakeries there’s a heap of fresh produce on offer too, with lots of traditional delis and butchers along here in case you want to create your own feast at home. Whilst Italian cuisine is certainly on showcase here, there are flavours from all around the world to savour as well – from Thai to African, you can find whatever you’d like to sample here. Of course there are also the coffee shops with teams of baristas churning out hot brews to perk up weary travellers day and night.
