Once a year visitors flock to Adelaide for one of the most acclaimed world music festivals on the planet–WOMAD. Even if your visit doesn’t coincide with the festival itself, you will still be able to see theinfluenceWOMAD has on Adelaide’s dining and entertainment all year round, simply by visiting the wide range of international cuisines on offer in the many restaurants on throughout the city. Here are some culinary adventures you can embark on without using your passport:

Andre’s Cucina and Polenta Bar

Find your way to Andre’s and you’ll be greeted with all the traditional trappings of a Trattoria, complete with the friendly welcome and convivial atmosphere. This is a place that takes authenticity very seriously. They make all of their gnocchi and pasta fresh every day (the fresh gnocchi doesn’t even appear on the menu – you have to ask for it as a special request). If you have time and a large enough group, the ‘Menu Fisso’ tasting menu is a feast you won’t soon forget. This is the restaurant’s best attempt to recreate a family feast in a traditional Italian home – with grazing boards, fresh pasta and for dessert the fresh Zeppole donuts Andre’s is famous for.

Jasmin

An Adelaide staple for almost forty years, this Indian restaurant is a favourite of locals and visiting celebrities alike. Featuring family recipes (with closely held secret spice blends and generations of knowledge behind them) the menu is a display of North Indian cuisine presented with masterful refinement and skill. They have plenty of dishes that will look familiar if you’re a fan of Indian food, though you may still be surprised by the meal that arrives to your table given their absolute commitment to preserving the traditional recipes and methods for each dish. Enjoy the delicious outpourings of the tandoor and curry pots and take a culinary adventure to India here.

Marrakech

The unique balanced flavours of Moroccan cuisine are beautifully showcased at this family friendly restaurant. Try some delicious pigeon pie or another of their unique menu items – each one is beautifully presented and a pleasure for both eyes and palate. To end your meal, the couscous based dessert Meslala and a refreshing cup of mint tea is the perfect finish to your Moroccan adventure.
