Sometimes you just have to get away from it all, and there are plenty of amazing places around Canberra to do exactly that. Next time you’ve had enough of the 9 – 5 head off to one of these hideaways to relax and recharge.

Mona Farm and Historic Home

A little over an hour out of Canberra you will find this gorgeous heritage home, ready to welcome you for a weekend of pure luxury. On the edge of Braidwood, Mona Farm is a stunning old estate that has been refurbished in grand style – even the stables are now four-star suites. For even more decadence you can rent out the Coach house, or even the historic home itself. There’s a beautiful woodland grove surrounding you and all the entertainments the village of Braidwood has to offer.

Royal Mail Hotel

If you like the idea of a weekend in Braidwood, but you’re looking for a more budget-friendly option, then the Royal Mail Hotel is a great choice. The Yellow Rose Bistro has a special on every night, and serves up good old-fashioned pub food staples. They have a courtesy bus, games rooms and a beer garden for relaxing between adventures.

Gibraltar Hotel

If you have a golf fan in the family, this will be a dream come true – the Gibraltar Hotel at Bowral has a spectacular golf course, and plenty of other pleasing amenities too. There’s a spa/retreat offering with a wide range of pampering services that can happen in their beautiful day spa or as part of an in-room service. There’s no shortage of dining options, either, with many bars and restaurants to choose from. Every member of the family has been considered, so whatever your interests or age, there’s plenty to do.

Wonky Pine Beach House

Two hours south of Canberra in Narrawallee you’ll find this charming beach house, which, despite the name, is a not-at-all wonky place to spend a few days. Rent upstairs, downstairs or both and enjoy the beachfront location and proximity to Mollymook, Milton and Ulladulla, with their own attractions to explore.
