Platypus Track Discovery
Bidjigal Reserve is a great place for some exploring with a wide range of walking tracks to enjoy. Our pick of the bunch is the “Platypus Walking Track” which is an easy loop just under two kilometres, perfect for the kids to stretch their legs after a drive. There aren’t many Platypuses to be seen these days, but there’s lots of other wildlife you might find along the way, and the fresh air is always a delight.
Flip out and Bounce
For weatherproof fun, head to the “Flip Out” sporting complex – there’s dodgeball, trampolines, foam pits, a parkour area and all sorts of other things to explore. There’s lots of classes to sign up for if you want an expert giving you some helpful pointers, or you can just get a pass for a few hours of fun. It’s a great place for the whole family to burn off some excess energy.
Museum with a Difference
One of Castle Hill’s more intriguing attractions is the Museum Discovery Centre. The Museum Discovery Centre (MDC) is a collaboration between the Australian Museum (AM), the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences (MAAS), and Sydney Living Museums. It has an extensive collection to explore, but it’s mostly a “Museum about Museums” where you can get a behind the scenes glimpse into the curation, preservation and restoration activities that these important institutions dedicate themselves to. Their school holiday programs book out fast to be sure to contact them ahead of time if that’s when you’re visiting.
Fun for Under 5s
If you have younger kids in your family, then a trip to the Kids Play Land is a safe bet. At the back of the Motor Registry Castle Hill, you will find an extensive range of play. Jumping castles, climbing tumbles, cars, foam and ball pits are all here ready for intrepid pint-sized explorers to tackle. There’s also a café and comfortable seating here, so the grownups can enjoy a well-deserved break, while the kids rampage to their heart's content.
Bowled away at Putt Putt
A combination mini golfing course and bowling alley, Strike Holey Moley has something for everyone. There’s eighteen weird and wacky putt putt holes to try and conquer, with lots of interesting themes and obstacles. There’s also a bowling alley with all the mod cons, including optional padded bumper bars for younger bowlers. If that’s not enough – they also have karaoke, an escape room and a great café that serves up all kinds of fun party food.
Adventure at The Edge
When the kids are climbing the walls, there’s only one place to go – The Edge. One of Sydney’s longest operating indoor climbing centres and a Castle Hill favourite – The Edge is perfect for beginners and experts alike. If you’re just starting out, they will be happy to show you the ropes and run you through their quick but informative belaying course so you can safely climb and start enjoying their extensive range of clambering options.
