Cooma is the largest town in the alpine region, being centrally located between Canberra and Bega. Most famous for its perfect winter ski location, it’s a fantastic place to visit all year round. Kosciusko is probably the most famous of the three, as it’s home to Australia’s highest peak. In fact, Mt Kosciusko sits just a one hour and twenty-minute drive from Cooma. At 2,228 metres above sea level, it’s always an impressive sight. In the winter, it’s mostly used for skiing and in the summertime, you can hike across it.
