Unit 6 / 221-223 Oriordan St
A suburb located in the pockets of eastern Sydney, Alexandria is a short distance from Sydney’s bustling business district. Starting out in the early days as one of the many industrial districts, it has quickly grown to being the largest in Australia by 1943. Apart from being a mostly commercial district, Alexandria is also home to many residential localities, and draws quite some tourist attention.
The town was once home to the South Sydney Markets, established in 2009. The markets would provide fresh local produce and also served as a platform for the sale and display of handmade crafts. However, the markets are currently not operational. Getting around in Alexandria is possible, what with a multitude of options available for all kinds of travellers. There are buses and trains available, with stations located within walking distance. If public transport isn’t really your scene, then there’s always a car hire in downtown Alexandria to drive around and explore.
Sydney Park is close by, along with Alexandria Park and McKell Playground, if you fancy a bit of fresh air. At night, there are more than a few pubs to let your hair down at, including the Alexandria Hotel, Iron Duke Hotel, Buckland Hotel and the Parkview Hotel. Just remember to get a car rental to downtown Alexandria, and a designated driver!
