Bankstown is known both locally and nationally as a food lovers' paradise. We recommend dedicating time to taste all the local delicacies that this suburb has to offer; from Greek and European cuisine through to Vietnamese and Korean - there’s a plethora for everyone to enjoy.
Once you’ve finished eating your way around the suburb, why not head to some of the attractions that Bankstown has? There’s the Australian Aviation Museum at Bankstown Museum, where you’ll find a huge range of aviation artefacts, memorabilia, and aircraft. The museum is located at Bankstown Airport, which also is a hub for local and small planes - if you want to see Sydney from a different angle, we highly recommend booking one of the flight tours that leave from Bankstown Airport to see Sydney from an angle that many people never get to experience.
For sports lovers, you’ll have a great time visiting some of the world-class stadiums that are located in this suburb. Visit the Sydney Bulldogs Stadium as well as the Dunc Gray Velodrome - the latter being a slice of Olympic History, when it was part of the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.
Of course, there are also ample outside areas for you to drive to and enjoy. There’s the picturesque Georges River, where you can sit and enjoy the sunshine while having a picnic. The river runs right through the suburb, so you’ll find plenty of space to enjoy yourself. Walk along the banks and admire the view, too. Or, drive to the Georges River National Park and witness the water in all its glory. There are plenty of walking tracks throughout the park, so perhaps take the day and enjoy being out and about in nature.
