Taree Airport is located on the eastern edge of Taree by the Manning River. It has regular flights to Sydney (1 hour and 40 minutes) and Newcastle (35 minutes) and is well connected by road. The Pacific Highway goes north to Port Macquarie and south to Newcastle and Sydney.
Taree Airport has recently opened an aviation business park, which is home to several companies. The Manning River Aero Club is based at the airport and they offer scenic flights of the area, which are a spectacular way to introduce yourself to the region.
Taree itself is a thriving economic and tourism hub with retail, healthcare and manufacturing the main employers. With its many excellent restaurants and accommodation options, the town is a perfect base to explore the Manning Valley, and the wider Mid North Coast of New South Wales.
Take a scenic drive up to Ellenborough Falls – at 200m, one of the highest single-drop waterfalls in the southern hemisphere. Coorabakh National Park is also worth the 50-minute drive through gorgeous countryside. Here you can take a dip at Waitui Falls among primordial sub-tropical rainforest and explore Newbys Cave before enjoying majestic views from Flat Rock and Vincent’s lookouts.
