It’s time for a trip to the Red Centre.
Our Ayers Rock location is certainly located in a one-of-a-kind destination. With the mighty Uluru just on its doorstep, your adventure in the Australian outback begins from the moment you pick up your Hertz rental car.
The Red Centre is one of the most iconic places in Australia. With an average of 300,000 visitors each year, Uluru and its surrounding landmarks of Kata Tjuta, the East and West Macdonnell Ranges, and Kings Canyon are sights to behold. Each place is also of hugely important historical and cultural significance.
You’ll need a rental car to get you from location to location. While there are some impressive sights throughout the outback, it's an incredibly vast landscape, with hundreds of kilometres between each destination. We’ll provide you with top-quality vehicles so you can travel safely and comfortably to each destination.
See the Mighty Uluru with Hertz
You won’t have to drive too far to see the mighty Uluru.
Uluru is one of Australia's most popular tourist sights and is why many travel to the Red Centre. The mighty rock sits high above the rest of the flat landscape, and is visible from vast distances.
Once you have arrived within the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, you’ll likely wonder what activities you can participate in. We always recommend booking a guided walk around the base of Uluru. This way, you can learn about Uluru's important geological, cultural, and historical significance while walking around the 10.6-kilometre round base.
If you’ve researched Uluru, you’ll have heard about the magical changing colours of sunset and sunrise. Watch the rock turn from deep burgundy to a glowing bright red before setting to a deep purple hue as the sun sets. Make sure to look up once the night sky has arrived; the Milky Way shines brightly in this unpolluted sky. You’ll see beautiful colours, and stars - perhaps even shooting stars, if you’re lucky.
Once night falls, it’s not quite time for bed. Head to the Field of Light Uluru for an art installation quite unlike any other. Walk through the beautiful masterpiece underneath the starry night sky - it’ll be an evening you will remember for a lifetime.
Finally, another way to see Uluru is from above. Many helicopter tours fly over Uluru - perhaps see which tour suits you best, and book a trip of your dreams.
