A World-Class Museum and Fabulous Natural Beauty

If you’re in Caboolture, you’re probably on your way to somewhere else – but hang around for a while; it’s worth it! Caboolture is something of a transport hub, straddling the Bruce Highway halfway between Brisbane and Sunshine Coast and with regular train services south to Brisbane and northwards up the east coast.

Caboolture, a town of 60,000 people, has a couple of cultural gems worth exploring - and most visitors will be surprised to learn that one of them is a truly world-class museum. The Abbey Museum of Art and Archaeology is home to more than 4,000 objects spanning some of the most significant eras in human history, from ancient Egypt and Rome through medieval Europe and the Renaissance to the end of the 19th century. The Caboolture Warplane Museum and Caboolture Historical Village are also popular with families.

D’Aguilar National Park is another place that lends itself to stunning photography. A 30 minute drive from Caboolture, you’ll find open eucalypt woodland interspersed with gorges lush with subtropical rainforest. There’s a scenic drive up to panoramic views on Mount Glorious, while walkers can access secluded waterholes, such as Rocky Hole, for a cooling dip.

Caboolture is minutes away from the coast, and the sandy beaches and mangrove forests of Bribie Island, accessible via a road bridge, are both stunning and extremely popular. Meanwhile, the wider Moreton Bay area is a great place to see marine mammals, including humpback whales, dolphins and the enigmatic sea cow or dugong.
