Given how close Keswick is to the CBD, it’s hard to believe how peaceful the streets are. Bordered by South Road, Richmond Road, Everard Avenue and the Adelaide Showground Railway Station, this inner-southwest suburb is just a stone’s throw from the city without getting caught up in the middle of it all.
If you’re flying into Adelaide, Keswick is conveniently located just minutes from the airport. While the suburb is quite small and encompasses just a few short streets, it’s the perfect base from which to explore the treasure trove that is South Australia’s capital city. Shopping, arts and culture, cheap eats, fine dining, outdoor activities, wineries; you name it, Adelaide has got it. But what it truly boasts is the laidback vibe and small-town feel that you won’t get amidst the fast-paced hustle and bustle of rival capital cities.
From Keswick, you are perfectly situated to enjoy everything Adelaide has to offer. Take a stroll into town across the iconic parklands, and consider stopping halfway for a picnic on the vast grassy spaces. You can also head in west towards Henley or Glenelg beaches and soak up some rays in the warmer months.
If you visit during September, you’ll be lucky enough to attend the Royal Adelaide Show, an annual event run for 10 days starting on the first Friday of September. It’s held right next to Keswick, meaning you’ll be within walking distance of the show to enjoy the arts and crafts, food and wine, agricultural competitions, livestock, photography, exhibits, rides, showbags and other entertainment. It’s attended by as many as half a million people every year, and for good reason!
