There are a plenty of unique day trips to experience during your time on Kangaroo Island, and a visit to Seal Bay is the perfect way to acquaint yourself with some of the locals. Take a tour of the seal colony, and watch as they laze about on the sand, frolic in the waves, and take shelter amongst the nearby sand dunes. Unroll your picnic blanket on the sand and enjoy a picnic as you admire these weird and wonderful animals.
To take an even closer look at the native marine life of the area, take a boat ride out to sea and discover yet another side of this spectacular island. Here you can swim with dolphins, watch seabirds soar overhead, and go snorkeling with the fish below, before enjoying the sunset over the water.
If you prefer to stay on land, you might want to make a trip to the Kelly Hill Caves. Strap on a headlamp and go adventure caving through an intricate maze beneath the ground, or admire the limestone cave system with a walking tour past its stalactites and stalagmite formations. While you're in the parklands you can also take the walking trail to Hanson Bay, which winds past freshwater lagoons, towering sand dunes, and through dense woodlands.
Kangaroo Island is a beautiful destination, rich with jaw-dropping views, fascinating geological formations and a one-of-a-kind chance to get up close and personal with native wildlife. If you enjoy spending time with nature, or just crave a nice view, then this is a place you simply must visit.
