It’s the perfect place to relax and spend a day staring out at the ceaseless blue as the ocean meets the horizon. Come sunset, visitors can also take a camel ride, which is an iconic Broome experience well worth forking out for.
If you fancy learning more about the Indigenous history and culture of the area, Minyirr Park offers visitors the opportunity to learn about the local Yawuru people. There are also three easy walking trails in the area that cross some stunning sections of pure wilderness. At the southern end of Cable Beach, Gantheaume Point is a really interesting place where at least nine species of dinosaur footprints have been identified, dating back 130 million years.
Broome’s tropical climate is perfect for some alfresco drinks and dining. And there’s no better place than Matso’s Broome Brewery. Here you can enjoy a whole range of beautifully crafted beers alongside superb food. We recommend trying the barramundi with one of the brewery’s special mango beers.
If you fancy heading a little further afield, head for Dampier Peninsula, an extraordinary place where turquoise water and red sand combine for truly effortless beauty. Following Cape Leveque Road northwards, you’ll find bushwalking tours run by indigenous communities, as well as secluded beaches, breathtaking landscapes and the famous Mother of Pearl Shell altar at Beagle Bay Church.
The best time to visit Broome is during the dry season from April to October. April marks the end of the wet season when the lush native greenery of the outback makes an appearance and adds to the beauty of the area.
