Busselton is located just 2.5 hours away from Perth, the capital of Western Australia, so it’s the perfect distance away from the hustle and bustle of the city. While you can drive from Perth to Busselton, there’s also the choice of a plane journey too, as Busselton Margaret River Airport is just 6.5 kilometres away from the town centre.
Busselton is truly a magical place. As it sits right by the famous wine region of Margaret River, you can enjoy the best of both worlds while you’re here: the beautiful coast, coupled with magnificent wineries throughout. And, that’s not all. Visitors to Busselton have the chance to witness the humpback whale migration each year from May to December. It’s simply magical.
Explore Busselton with Hertz
The coast here at Busselton is one of the most famous in the country. This is due to its long jetty that stands 1.8-kilometres into the Indian Ocean. It’s the longest timber made jetty in the Southern Hemisphere and has been repeatedly extended over the last 150 years due to the Indian Ocean being so shallow for such an extended distance.
While you walk out on the jetty, you can cast your gaze over the beautiful expanse of turquoise blue waters that the Indian Ocean is famous for. Between May and December, keep an eye out for the playful humpback as they migrate past. But, always make sure to look down while you’re out here, as at the sides of the jetty are windows to the underwater world below. See the beautiful coral, fish, and turtle as they go about their day with you watching from above.
Hit the Road with Hertz
The magic of Busselton doesn’t just stop at the shore. Its location is one of the many highlights of this town, as it sits next to the Margaret River region.
Margaret River has worldwide fame for its delicious collection of wines and wineries. Busselton is only a 23-minute drive to Dunsborough, or you can drive the 42-minute drive to the town of Margaret River. Margaret River is home to over200 vineyards, and the region produces over 25 per cent of Australia’s premium wine. So, if you want a fun day out, we recommend you drive over and explore the area. Be sure that if you do participate in any wine tastings, you have a designated driver for your Hertz rental.
Of course, once you’ve finished tasting the magical wines of Margaret River, it’s time to return home to Busselton. Perhaps try one of the more artisanal foods on over like at Origins Market. Recently opened in 2021, this newly popular market is home to delicious local food, produce, and crafts. It’s a great place to find new and delicious eateries.
