Located right at the junction of the highways linking France’s major cities in the northwest, Rennes is a beautiful and vibrant city to visit. The capital of Brittany in north-western France, Rennes is a perfectly planned city, with a modern city centre and a gorgeous medieval quarter. Furthermore, Rennes has a large university population, owing to which there are plenty of places to swig a pint, and a wide variety of restaurants, serving local and classic French delicacies.
A trip to Rennes ideally takes one or two days of exploration, and getting around is extremely tourist-friendly. Buses are always recommended, but if you’re looking to drive around, there are plenty of car rentals from Rennes railway station. Drive around the cobbled medieval streets while in the old town, and head over to the Thabor gardens to relax.
While you’re here, your trip would be incomplete if you don’t visit one of Rennes’ museums. The Musee de Bretagne, which you can drive to in a car hire from Rennes railway station, is located in the modern Champs Libres building. The museum has documented Brittany’s history and culture from the past, and also offers guided tours in multiple languages.
