Enjoy Community Fishing
The Sydney International Regatta Centre runs a fantastic ‘catch and release’ fishing program regularly throughout the year. It’s a great opportunity to relax with a day of shore fishing, whilst also learning about responsible environmental practices. The program is run under the watchful eye of the NSW Department of Primary Industries Fishcare volunteers who teach you about the nine species of fish that can be caught at the lake. The day is relaxed, educational and a fantastic excuse to spend a day outdoors in the scenic surrounds of Penrith Lakes.
Take in the Views from Rock Lookout
Head to the Mulgoa Valley where breathtaking panoramic views await. After a short walk down Fairlight road, you’ll reach The Rock Lookout, which has been an attraction for more than 200 years. Take a photo with the iconic rock and enjoy the views that span across the Nepean River Gorge, Blue Mountains and Penrith.
Walk the Nepean River
Stroll along the picturesque banks of the Nepean River and watch the birds, boats and local flora and fauna go about their business. There are multiple entry and exit points along the walking track and a variety of seats, playgrounds and picnic spots for you to take advantage of.
Despite being a major metropolitan region, Penrith offers a variety of fun and rewarding ways to explore its natural outdoor scenery.
