When you’ve got the whole family in tow it can be difficult to find a restaurant that makes the evening a pleasure instead of an ordeal. Rest assured, Hobart has no shortage of family-friendly eateries to try. Check out our picks:

The Drunken Admiral

This ‘Seafarers Restaurant’ is a Hobart institution, owned and run by the same family for almost forty years. It’s earned its reputation as a great night out for all the family with its quirky nautical theme, featuring maritime memorabilia adorning every wall. With an expansive menu, it’s sure to satisfy the whole family.

Annapurna

Fans of Indian food will love Annapurna, with their tandoor oven bringing forth all sorts of tasty treats for young and old alike. The relaxed and friendly atmosphere will make everyone feel at home and the generously priced banquet menus means a real feast is very affordable.

Ball and Chain Grill

Heritage and history combine here, with the restaurant housed in a colonial era building built by convicts. The steaks here are legendary, and there’s plenty of seafood and other choices on the menu too.

The Burger Haus

Everybody loves burgers and The Burger Haus does some of the best, with fresh buns and hand selected local produce, along with some unexpected choices, like salmon and wild boar. Vegetarians are also well-catered for. The kids’ menu includes not only a choice of burgers, but for a little extra, fruit, drink and ‘a surprise’ as well.
