The Great Ocean Road is widely agreed to be one of the most spectacular sights in Victoria. We recommend taking it slow – instead of doing the drive in a day or two, make some stops along the way. Here’s some of our favourite places to break your journey along this iconic stretch.
The Boomerangs
Halfway down the Great Ocean Road in a little town called Johanna, you’ll find The Boomerangs’ gorgeous cabins, surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens and full of native birdlife. Johanna Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches on the route and well worth taking the time to explore.
Chocolate Gannets
Named after one of the iconic seabirds of the local area, these villas have an enviable beachfront location and are just a short distance from Apollo Bay. Equipped with spa baths, luxury linens and all the comforts of home, they’re the perfect place to rest and relax.
Sea Zen
Perfect for couples, this cosy studio apartment has beautiful Japanese-inspired décor and a view of the sea. A fireplace will keep you warm in the cooler months and the deck is perfect for outdoor dining when it’s warmer. There’s a double spa and a steam shower so you can truly relax and pamper yourself. Sea Zen are even pet friendly in case you have a furry friend travelling with you.
Points South by the Sea
Three beautiful cottages by the sea, set in a gorgeous 160 acre farm – that’s Points South By the Sea. If you’re lucky you may get to see dolphins and whales outside your door, and did we mention that there’s a private beach right outside to enjoy too?
Lorne Luxury
If you’re travelling with a group of friends or the whole family, this fully self contained three bedroom house will be a great choice. Overlooking the beautiful Louttit Bay and close to all the varied amenities Lorne has to offer, this is a great place to spend a couple of days.
