Here are some great little spots you can get to in the south of Tassie, that are all an easy drive from Hobart. Take your pick – beaches, mountains, towns and wilderness - choose your view, and make your holiday start a bit sooner with one of these nearby gems.

Oatlands

Surrounded by the Coal River Valley wine region, this colonial village is picturesque and welcoming. Stop by a few cellar doors and enjoy the local produce.

Derwent Bridge

New Norfolk

The Derwent Valley holds this gem, it’s the third oldest town in Tasmania and there’s plenty of history to take immerse yourself in.

Cockle Creek

Any further south and you’re headed for Antarctica. As Australia’s southernmost point, this is one of those places you just have to cross off the bucket list.

Cygnet

This beautiful town is flanked by the majestic waters of the Huonville River on one side, and the D’Entrecasteaux Channel on the other. Seafood feasts, water views and a cool breeze all year ‘round await you here.

Geeveston

The picturesque Huon Valley houses this scenic town, the perfect place to explore the natural wonders of Hartz Mountains National Park. Immerse yourself in the beautiful forests that have been unchanged by time.
