As the gateway to the Whitsundays, Airlie Beach has been a popular tourist spot fora many years, so there are plenty of places to stay here. Here are some of our favourites, from budget-friendly to luxurious.

Coral Sea Resort

An ocean front location and first class facilities make this an obvious choice. There’s an onsite tour desk for all your reef and island hopping adventures, and Italian, Japanese and French speaking staff to help you in whatever language you prefer. Choose between self-contained suites or motel style rooms and enjoy their pool, spa and array of water sports on offer. The Clipper Restaurant and Lounge is a multi award-winning venue open for breakfast, lunch and dinner so all your meals are taken care of here.

Shingley Beach Resort

These fully self-contained apartments are perfect for independently minded travellers who will appreciate the fully equipped kitchens and comfortable living spaces of this well-appointed resort. Start your day enjoying your ocean views as you breakfast on the balcony, and then take a dip one of their two pools – there’s a plunge pool and larger space kids will love, even a waterfall to enjoy. There’s a day spa on site too where you can enjoy a massage at the end of a long day.

Peppers Airlie Beach

The Peppers chain is well known for their beautiful hotels, and the Airlie Beach version is no exception to the rule. Self-contained apartments with stunning views of the Whitsunday Passage are yours to enjoy here. The rooms also have their own spa for you to enjoy some real rest and relaxation.

If a fun and friendly backpackers is what you’re looking for, this is one of the best you’ll find. The accommodation is “no frills”, but the nightlife can’t be beat – with two different nightclub spaces, bars and a restaurant, there’s a party here every night. Shared kitchens and a rec room give you plenty of opportunities to meet other travellers and make some friends. They have a bustling tour desk and have negotiated lots of special deals with local operators, so with your newfound friends in tow you can enjoy all the adventures they have on offer without breaking the bank.
