Whether you’re planning a weekend away or plan on staying a little longer, The Museum of Old and New Art is a must for anyone travelling to Hobart. Australia’s largest private museum, MONA has over 300art works displayed over three floors. The collection includes everything from Egyptian mummies to contemporary modern art.

Getting There
Located 11km north of the Hobart CBD, MONA is open 6 days a week from 10am - 5pm.
There are a variety of ways to get to MONA: ferry, drive, taxi, cycle, bus or take the ‘MONA Roma Express’. You definitely won’t be short of options getting there.
Generally speaking, most people drive or catch the ferry which takes around 20 minutes from Hobart’s CBD.
Admission
Admission is free if you’re from Tasmania or under 18. Otherwise, prices range from $20 - $28 for adults and $15 - $25 for concessions.
Exploring MONA

At MONA, labels on walls are non-existent. Instead, there’s ‘The O’ – an internal positioning system which locates you in the space and provides audio and text information about the different artwork. Pick up a device at the museum or download it on your phone.
Extras
MONA offers some great extras for visitors, including an onsite 63-seat cinema and a library.
If you need a break and begin to get a little peckish, MONA has several bars, cafes and a restaurant onsite – or head next door to Moorilla for a winery tour and cellar door tasting.
