Less than an hour out of Perth is the beautiful Swan Valley, home to Western Australia’s oldest and most well-established wineries, fine food, artists studios and beautiful green scenery. It’s not called the “Valley of Taste” for nothing, you can experience delicious meals and wine, and all the other delights of the region. It’s a beautiful place to get away to for a few days, and there’s plenty to see and do. Here are some of our favourite ways to enjoy the Swan Valley.
Swan Valley Food and Wine Trail
Hop in the car and enjoy this 32-kilometre loop that takes you through more than a hundred and fifty wineries, along with breweries, orchards, distilleries, cafes, restaurants and much more. Stop along the way as often as you please to visit cellar doors, sample gourmet meals, and pick up some fresh goodness from the produce stalls of the local farms.
Swan Valley Oasis
This is a great place to stay while you’re exploring the region – in addition to luxurious rooms, there’s also a fantastic restaurant here serving a wide variety of innovative modern Australian cuisine. Rest and relax under the century-old lilac tree and enjoy the beautifully landscaped grounds. The facility also features a gym, sauna and pool for you to take advantage of.
Maalinup Gallery
This gorgeous gallery full of amazing Aboriginal art is a must-see while you’re in the Swan Valley. They also regularly put on cultural performances with didgeridoo, storytelling and dance. There’s a Bushtucker Garden where you can join a “talk and taste” tour and learn how to incorporate some indigenous flavours into your own cooking.
SupaGolf
This is golf with a family-friendly twist. Bigger clubs and a larger soft ball makes SupaGolf much less challenging than traditional golf. As a result, it is a fun and inviting game for kids, novices and golf lovers alike. All the equipment you’ll need is provided, so all you need to do is show up ready for some fun. They also have a mini-golf course here too with great novelty challenges to put your putting skills to the test.
