The sun’s out and it’s time to have some fun; here are ten things you should do this summer in Perth.

1. Sunset at Scarborough

As you wait for the cool change to kick in, enjoy the Sunset Markets at Scarborough Beach. All along the beachfront there are stalls, food trucks and a busy bar making thirsty market goers happy.

2. Fremantle Arts Centre Sunday Music Sessions

With good tunes and Freo breezes, it doesn’t get any better than this. Bands play every Sunday afternoon at this family-friendly and free event, so pack yourself a sandwich (or treat yourself to the freshly made woodfire pizzas) and enjoy.

3. Movie in the Sky

From November to March, you can enjoy Rooftop movies in the open sky. This open-air cinema six stories up on top of the Roe St Carpark lets you lounge in a bean bag and take in the cityscape panorama as you take in a film or two.

4. Rock out at Rockingham

Rockingham’s Summer Series sessions are a whole summer’s worth of free family-friendly events. There’s “bring your dog” day, markets, concerts, movies, group sports and more, so check out what’s happening each weekend and pick your favourites.

5. Yagan Square Highlights

Yagan Square is diving headfirst into the festive season with their Sunday live music events. They also have a “Christmas Forrest” inside the market hall, for the perfect fake-snow selfie to fool your friends with. If you’re dreaming of a White Christmas in Perth, this is the closest you’re going to get.

6. Tiny doors of York

The Shire of York have had a group of volunteers with a singular mission – to populate the city with dozens of whimsical tiny doors! Follow the map, collect the clues and solve the puzzle to be in the draw for a host of impressive prizes.

7. Crafternoon at QT

Perth’s QT building is opening up their swanky lobby and transforming it into a crafters paradise with their Crafternoon sessions. There is Christmas Wreath Making and more, so come along and get creative here.

8. Cockburn Gateway Candyland

All the shopping centres go all out at this time of year, and the Cockburn Gateway Shopping Centre is working hard to stand out from the crowd. They have built a Candyland to explore, with carol singers, garden games and putt putt golf, and a host of other kid-friendly activities to enjoy. You can get your obligatory photo with Santa here too.

9. Bazaar Adventure

Hailing itself as “Western Australia’s Best Christmas Market”, Bazaar at the Fremantle Arts Centre has a reputation to uphold. With a fiercely competitive process to get a stall at this annual event, you can be sure that Perth’s very best is represented here. As the sun sets they fire up a DJ line-up and the party really gets started.

10. Family fun at the Transport Museum

The Whiteman Park Transport Museum has their wheels spinning, with a host of crafting and other fun activities making the museum really come alive at this time of year. Check out their program for some child-friendly and weatherproof fun.
