Solitary Islands Marine Park

Spanning an impressive 71,000 hectares, the area is the third largest protected marine park in NSW. Local signage tells you where you can participate in activities such as fishing, diving and collecting.

The Big Banana

Muttonbird Island Nature Reserve

For those who don’t mind a bit of a hike with some inclines, you have to visit this nature reserve before you leave. Connected to Coffs Harbour by the northern breakwater built in 1935, the island was originally known as Giidany Miirlarl (Place of the Moon) by the local Gumbaynggirr people.

Solitary Islands Aquarium

Owned by the Southern Cross University’s Marine Science Centre and open to the public on weekends, the aquarium is a must see for lovers of aquatic life. See some of the many fish, coral and octopus species that call Solitary Islands Marine Park home.
