Arches of Allendale
The Limestone Coast is a beautiful part of the world to discover via scenic drive. The drive from Adelaide takes about five hours through two hundred and fifty kilometres of uninterrupted tidal inlets – a spectacular vista of natural beauty.
Once you’ve made it to Allendale, there are lots of delightful places to stay, but one of our favourites is a gorgeous converted church known as Arches of Allendale. Built in 1866 and refurbished in a respectful but undeniably modern way, this is a versatile space able to accommodate everyone from couples to large groups.
This would be a quiet and cosy escape from city life, but if you’re looking for more adventure there are also extensive tour options that can be arranged for you to sample the delights of the surrounding region.
Troubridge Island
There’s getaways, there’s extreme getaways, and then there’s a place like Troubridge Island. Three hours from Adelaide and only accessible by boat, Troubridge Island offers visitors the chance to stay in a 160-year- old lighthouse keeper’s cottage.
The views are absolutely spectacular and the serenity you can experience here is unparalleled. Your only neighbours will be the nesting seabirds, including a colony of fairy penguins, pods of dolphins, whales passing by, and a resident sea lion.
